    What is a Mechanical Seal?

A mechanical seal is a critical component in the sealing of pumps and mixers to prevent the medium from entering the motor stator, if the seal fails due to lack of maintenance the medium will cause the motor that drives the pump to fail, and medium to leak out.

    Mechanical Seals Explained

    Why do Mechanical Seals Leak?

Over time your mechanical seal will wear out and possibly start to leak. This is due to a variety of reasons such as:

    • age,
    • bearing failure,
    • dry running,
    • and debris in the medium.

When mechanical seals leak or fail, it can have ramifications that could shut down plant equipment, cause production losses, failed heating or chilled systems and stop water from being supplied to properties.

Pumpforce can supply and install mechanical seals as part of a planned, preventative, maintenance service.
