    Lined Control Valves Explained

Lined control valves are a type of industrial control valve, that are internally lined with corrosion-resistant materials, such as PTFE (Teflon), PFA, or other fluoropolymers. These are used primarily in corrosive or chemically aggressive environments—like chemical processing, pharmaceutical production, or acid handling—where standard metal valves would degrade quickly.

    Types of Lined Control Valves

    Lined Globe Control Valve

    • Good for precise throttling
    • Common in chemical processing where corrosion resistance is critical.

    Lined Ball Valve

    • Used for moderate control and shut off.
    • Offers good flow capacity and resistance to wear.

    Lined Butterfly Valve

    • Used for on/off or limited throttling.
    • Lightweight and cost-effective for large diameters.

    Lined Plug Valve

    • Suitable for corrosive or viscous fluids.
    • Offers tight shut-off with moderate control.

    Lined Diaphragm Valve

    • Good for slurries and highly corrosive media.
    • Uses a flexible diaphragm to isolate the fluid.

    Specification & Design

At Valveforce, we believe correct specification is the cornerstone of performance and durability. Our technical team works with you to understand your process parameters—such as media composition, temperature, pressure, and required flow characteristics.

We then recommend the most suitable lined control valve, considering factors like:

    • Lining materials to suit chemical compatibility
    • Body designs for flow control accuracy and minimal pressure drop.
    • Actuation options (pneumatic, electric) tailored to your control system.
    • Compliance with ATEX, PED and other regulatory standards

    Lining Material

Our core linings are focused on:

    PTFE (Polytetrafluoroethylene)

    • Excellent chemical resistance.
    • Common in pharmaceutical and chemical industries.

    PFA (Perfluoroalkoxy)

    • More flexible and transparent than PTFE. PFA is used to be able to mould to the internal pattern of the Von Rohr series 94 and ChemBall CSB.
    • Handles higher purity requirements.

    Installation & Commissioning

    Control Infrastructure Integration

Our experienced engineers manage the installation and commissioning process end-to-end, ensuring valves are installed correctly and integrated into your control infrastructure.

    This includes:

    • Mechanical installation and piping connection.
    • Electrical hook-up and actuator configuration.
    • Functionality testing and stroke calibration.
    • Control loop integration and set-up.
    • Factory acceptance testing (FAT) and documentation.

Whether your project involves a new build, retrofit, or upgrade, we deliver fully operational systems with minimal disruption.
