Double Block & Bleed Assemblies
Engineered Isolation Solutions for Steam & Condensate Systems
In steam and condensate systems, safe isolation is critical. High temperatures, stored energy, trapped condensate and passing valves can all create serious risks during maintenance or plant shutdowns.
Traditional single isolation valves often provide no way of verifying seat integrity or confirming zero pressure before intervention.
At Valveforce, we design and supply engineered Double Block & Bleed assemblies that deliver verified positive isolation for critical steam and condensate applications.
Our assemblies protect both personnel and plant by providing two independent isolation barriers, with an intermediate bleed point to safely vent and prove zero pressure before maintenance begins.

Double Block and Bleed Explained
A Double Block & Bleed assembly provides a safer alternative to traditional single-valve isolation.
During maintenance or planned shutdown, the primary isolation valve is closed, the secondary isolation valve is closed, and the intermediate bleed valve is opened. This allows trapped steam, condensate or pressure to be safely vented.
If either isolation valve passes, pressure will immediately show at the bleed point, giving a clear indication that safe isolation has not yet been achieved.
Valveforce DBB assemblies are suitable for steam mains, calorifier supplies, PRV stations, heat exchangers, process steam systems, condensate return systems, healthcare steam systems, commercial boiler houses, energy centres, district heating networks, food manufacturing, process plants and pharmaceutical facilities.
Double Block & Bleed Assembly Services
Specification & Design
Every Valveforce Double Block & Bleed assembly is engineered to suit the application.
Our scope includes valve selection based on pressure and temperature, fabricated spool piece design, flanged or welded configurations, site-specific dimensional design, workshop assembly and pressure testing.
Valve Options
Heavy Duty Bellows Sealed Stop Valves
Designed for demanding steam applications where long service life and external leak prevention are essential.
Benefits include zero stem leakage, high temperature capability, excellent shut-off performance, reduced maintenance requirements and suitability for saturated and high-pressure steam service.
Typical applications include steam mains, calorifier supplies, PRV stations, heat exchangers and process steam systems.
High Performance Butterfly Valves
For applications where installation space is limited or fast operation is required, high-performance butterfly valves provide a compact and highly effective isolation solution.
Benefits include reduced face-to-face dimensions, lightweight construction, fast actuation, excellent shut-off performance and suitability for steam and condensate duties when correctly specified.
Ideal applications include plant room retrofits, distribution headers, restricted access valve stations and condensate return systems.
Engineered to Fit Existing Plant Space
One of the biggest challenges when upgrading steam isolation systems is limited installation space.
At Valveforce, every DBB assembly is built around a fabricated spool piece that can be tailored to suit existing pipework geometry, restricted plant room access, existing flange arrangements, site-specific face-to-face dimensions and retrofit upgrade requirements.
This significantly reduces site modifications and installation downtime.
A major advantage when using high-performance butterfly valves is their compact face-to-face design. In many retrofit applications, Valveforce can engineer a complete Double Block & Bleed assembly to fit within the same installation space traditionally occupied by a single globe valve.
This allows clients to upgrade from single isolation to verified positive isolation without major pipework reconfiguration.
Typical Applications
Valveforce DBB assemblies are specified across healthcare steam systems, commercial boiler houses, energy centres, district heating networks, food manufacturing, process plants and pharmaceutical facilities.
Installation & Commissioning
Valveforce provides installation and commissioning support for Double Block & Bleed assemblies across steam and condensate systems.
During maintenance or planned shutdown, the system works by closing the primary isolation valve, closing the secondary isolation valve and opening the intermediate bleed valve. This allows trapped steam, condensate or pressure to be safely vented.
If either isolation valve passes, pressure will immediately show at the bleed point, giving a clear indication that safe isolation has not yet been achieved.
This provides a much safer alternative to traditional single-valve isolation and gives operators confidence before maintenance begins.
Our engineers work around existing plant layouts to minimise pipework modifications, reduce downtime and ensure the assembly is installed safely, correctly and ready for operation.
Overhaul & Repair
Valveforce supports the overhaul and repair of Double Block & Bleed assemblies, helping clients maintain safe and reliable isolation performance over the long term.
Our services include inspection of isolation valves, bleed valves, fabricated spool pieces, flanges and associated pipework. Where required, we can repair or replace worn components, address passing valves and restore system integrity.
Whether the system uses bellows sealed stop valves or high-performance butterfly valves, Valveforce can assess the assembly and recommend the most suitable repair or replacement approach.
Maintenance & Service
Regular maintenance is essential to ensure Double Block & Bleed assemblies continue to provide verified positive isolation.
Valveforce can inspect, test and service DBB assemblies as part of wider steam and condensate system maintenance. Our engineers can assess shut-off performance, check bleed operation, identify wear or leakage and recommend remedial action where required.
Whether your requirement is a compact retrofit or a full plant upgrade, Valveforce delivers engineered isolation solutions built for long-term reliability.
