Critical Turbine Bypass Valves Explained
Turbine bypass valves manage steam and cooling flows within the plant to regulate pressure, temperature and safety.
ARCA turbine bypass valves precisely control steam flow, pressure and temperature throughout the turbine bypass system. Each valve is engineered to perform reliably under extreme operating conditions, including high differential pressure, rapid actuation and thermal cycling.
Valveforce supports the complete turbine bypass process, from cooling water regulation to steam-conditioning and emergency bypass, ensuring safe operation, operational efficiency and long-term reliability across power generation and industrial turbine applications.
Turbine Bypass Valve Services
Specification & Design
ARCA turbine bypass valves are designed for:
- Precision control of pressure and temperature in critical plant systems.
- Multi-stage plug and cage configurations for noise reduction.
- Integration with pneumatic, electric or hydraulic actuators for reliable operation.
Cooling Water Control Valves (Positions 1, 3, 5)
Regulate secondary steam temperature downstream of steam-conditioning stations. Supply cooling water to the conditioning valve chamber or nozzle, maintaining stable temperature under varying conditions. Available series: 8C, 6H, 190
High Pressure – Low Pressure Steam-Conditioning Station (Position 2)
Provides low-pressure steam for plant use when the turbine is offline or tap pressure is insufficient. Uses multi-stage perforated plug and cage systems to reduce noise and ensure safe operation. Pressure reduction and cooling water injection can occur internally or at the outlet depending on process needs. Available series: 510–580
High Pressure – Medium Pressure Steam-Conditioning Control Valves (Position 4)
Supplies medium-pressure steam to meet internal plant requirements during turbine downtime or low tap pressure. Offers dependable pressure reduction, temperature control and noise minimisation using proven ARCA technology. Available series: 510–580
Bypass Station – Steam-Conditioning Control Valves (Position 6)
Handles excess live steam, safely directing it to the condenser, particularly during turbine emergency trips. Requires fast and precise actuation to protect the plant and prevent environmental blow-off. Available series: 560–580
